Helix Internet & Illico TV?
Is this possible? Could we split the coax cable and run it into the gateway and modem and then use the former for the internet and the latter for the TV? I ask because there are some limitations w/ Helix TV that are deal-breakers for me: Inability to record a TV program from when you started to watch it vs when you started recording it The delay between changing the channels I have confirmed that these issues are not present with Bell. Are there other limitations others have come across after using Helix for some time that they had wished they knew about before? It is also disappointing that there are not more apps (E.g. I found this in the logs of my helix router
so i found this critical error log in the event tab: 72001004-DHCPv6 Provision - 7 Retries Attempted it happens each and every time i attempt to port forward. please, can someone help. How can I change the DNS servers used on my Helix Fi?
Morning, I was wondering how I could change the primary and secondary DNS servers on my Helix Fi via the web gateway (10.0.0.1)? When access to bing.com doesn't work, it's this bogon ip that is most often the last link in the chain of ips that work. Does Videotron have a greylist of user IP addresses?
Hello, recently all my emails sent from my home take exactly 6 minutes to reach their destination. It doesn't matter if I use the email client on my PC, my iPad, or even use the Videotron webmail application CourrielWeb, if the email gets sent via my home modem, it gets delayed. If I move to another residence in another town, emails sent out from that location using my iPad or CourrielWeb pass in seconds. My email account has not changed, only the IP address of the modem at the different residence. I read today that greylists are used by some internet service providers to slow down, but not totally block, the transmission of emails originating from a source that is under suspicion, but not blacklisted. Being on an ISP's greylist is reported to cause a fixed transmission delay between 5 and 15 minutes, so it is not surprising that my delays are always exactly 6 minutes. No one at Videotron support has been able to explain my 6 minute delay, only that a delay of 6 minutes is not unacceptable in a world where email transmission times can vary according to many factors. So have you ever experienced email transmission symptoms similar to being on a greylist, and if so, how did you resolve your problem? Call Waiting I’d / Visual call waiting
I just transferred my home phone from Bell to Videotron. How do I activate the Call Waiting ID feature? Call waiting is activated and working but the name and number of the person calling is not displayed. This feature worked with Bell. Since Friday, our Helix is not handing out IP addresses anymore (over DHCP). Restarting the Helix did not help. As a workaround, we have manually configured the IPv4 address, subnet mask, gateway IP, and DNS IPs on our laptops (Windows and Linux). This works for now. Anybody else have this problem? Does Videotron participate in the Govt. of Canada initiative to offer low cost Cell and Internet services to eligible families and seniors. Web sites say they do, but nowhere do I find info on How to Connect. Here's hoping someone came across this issue and has a solution. I recently became a Videotron customer. We recently acquired an Echo Dot, 3rd generation and are in the process of making our home smart. Initially, all went well. We installed the dot and our smart light bulbs, no problem. At one point, we noticed that the network was a bit weaker in some areas of the house and got a pod to strengthen it. This meant the pod forced our initially split 2.4 and 5.0 networks to merge, disconnecting the Echo dot (which was onto the 5.0) from the network in the process. Since, we have tried the following: - disabling the 5.0 in the admin page and resetting everything ; - ordering a new Echo dot and trying to install it ; - reducing security temporarily ; - enabling network access on the mobile device on which the Alexa app is installed ; - uninstalling the Alexa App and re-installing ; - resetting Echo devices ; - resetting the Helix ; - involved Videotron customer service (twice - the Echo dot remains disconnected) ; - involved Amazon customer service (their response was to replace the device, which did not fix the issue). What are we missing? We've tried everything and this device still won't connect! Is there anything else we need to try? Videotron is telling me I have to change my phone to "avoid any unpleasant surprises" Thing is, my phone, an LG6, works fine and I don't WANT to change it!!! I'm a senior and can't take any hassle. I use my phone for very little - just ordinary phone calls, mostly local, and don't travel. So will my phone still work? What "unpleasant surprises" are they threatening me with? Hi! Can static routes be set on the Helix Fi Gateway2 (an Arris TG4482A)? I have not found this on the router’s own internal web GUI, nor on the Helix Fi app. My application: I have an internal router behind the Helix Gateway, which serves up my main home network. I also have a [third] router (running a more powerful and flexible firmware than the other two), which serves and isolates devices like Roku, Amazon TV, Google Home, and other IoT devices. I currently have this connected to a LAN port of the internal router via its WAN port, which is a little backwards. I wish to connect it to the Helix Gateway (thus making it a 'peer' to the other router, with its WAN port on the same network as my second router's WAN port), but need some things to be routed to the 'internal' network(s), and vice-versa, as opposed to the default, which is the Internet.
