Does Helix support VPN

I am very interested in subscribing to Helix. However, i am required to install my company VPN on my router, regarding my various corporate electronic devices. With my former provider, this was not an issue. Will it work with Helix? As i researched that it did not work on the previous zyxel router? Thanks

  • Hi!

It's unfortunately not possible to set-up a VPN directly in the Helix Gateway. But you're free to use any personal routers, which could include VPN features.

Thank you for the reply. Would this router replace the Helix Gateway, or would it be an addition to it? Is it as simple as just connecting a different router to the Helix Gateway? Thanks

So what was the answer? Do you need another router? How do you know which router to buy? How does it work with Videotron’s Helix equipment?
  • That's honestly the only thing that I'm missing with the Helix modem/router.
It's a great piece of hardware that is able to achieve outstanding wifi connection speed. It's just lacking a bit in the service department. I really hope we get a firmware update to be able to connect a VPN service. My IOT demands it 😄

  • Are there any new updates on this? I am also working from home with Helix and my work requires VPN
  • I am also facing the same problem of not being able to use the VPN and just found out that it is a Videotron Helix issue..
Is this mentioned somewhere? Really disappointed.

Like previously mentionned, your best bet would be to use a personal router connected directly in the Helix gateway. Then, by activating the Bridge mode in the gateway, you could then activate/configure your VPN in your personal router. Thank  you!

Hahaha, I bought a router before getting Helix and I thought I bought the router for nothing. But surprise, it will be use for the VPNs! 🙂

  • Just wanted say that I use ExpressVPN, and as long as I use servers in Montreal or Toronto, it works with Helix.
