Synology NAS crashes my Helix gateway
I'm hoping that someone can help me find a solution to my problem. A little context: I've been with Vidéotron for over 20 years, prior to moving to their Helix service I had their legacy Hybrid Fibre Internet and never had a problem. I was using my own routers and everything was working well. When the technician installed my Helix gateway I asked him to set it up in bridge mode since I wanted to keep using my routers. After the installation everything seemed to be fine for a couple of days; then the problems started. The internet would go down so I'd check the gateway to find that the light was red. I would unplug it, plug it back in and the internet connection would come back. This lasted another few days and it would go down again. Some days I would have to reset it 4-5 times. I called customer support and they told me the problem was on my end since the gateway was in bridge mode. I explained that my setup had not changed, save for the new gateway, and I had no issues with the previous modem. They explained that it was different since Helix combines the modem and the router and offered no real help. After several months of dealing with this very annoying inconvenience I decided to reset the Helix gateway to it's factory settings and only use that for my home network. After setting up everything the issue started happening again. This time I knew that it wasn't because of my routers so I started eliminating other devices. I determined that the problem was caused by my Synology NAS. This is actually a "faux" Synology NAS, meaning that I'm using open source software called Xpenology to run the Synology DSM software on a regular computer. So, whenever I plug my NAS into the network it crashes the Helix gateway. Sometimes it's almost immediate whereas some other times it can stay up for an hour or so. I've played around with different settings on the NAS and turned off most of the services but that didn't resolve the issue. What I tried today and what seems to be working so far, is leaving the gateway field blank in the NAS network settings so that I can still access it locally but it can't reach out to the internet. I apologize for the very long post and if you've made it this far I want to thank you for reading this. Does anyone have any suggestions? PS. I hooked up my NAS to my dad's Helix gateway and it ran fine for about 10-15 minutes. Looking to move to Helix but want to keep using our own router
Hi! I've seen some similar discussions as this one but that are a bit older. Also, first time posting:) We are looking to move to Helix and we would have one terminal to be used with our TV, which is not a smart tv:) However, for the wifi, I want to keep our own router. What options do we have? I read some info on videotron.com about enabling bridge mode on the gateway but this disables wifi. At the same time, I'm assuming that the tv terminal can only work with the gateway. Does this mean that the only option would be to connect the tv terminal with a network cable? Or is there another option. I would like to keep things as is with our own router. Found some info on the internet about issues with double NAT and having to remove DHCP from your own router, which is not an option:) Thank you very much!Automation Isn’t Impossible—Even on Platforms Like Salesforce

Error when sending attached scam email
Hi, everytimes I want to report a scaming email to any scam email address, I send it as an attachment but then I get this error popup all the times. What is this error? Why am I getting this? How can I fix this? Or how can I report scam email to Videotron and to anywhere else (ex: spam@fightspam.gc.ca)? P.S. : I am using Thunderbird 128.13.0esr (64-bit) email tool under Ubuntu 24.04

Helix pod vs other brand access-point
Hello, I have Helix internet with 2 helix pods already, set up to run as access points. (Gateway -> switch -> wired connection to pods) I know the support for this configuration is iffy, and I've had issues in the past, but now seems to be working fine. My question is: I would like to add another pod to act as access point - would it be preferable to try my luck with another helix pod or use another brand access-point? If I use another brand , like ubiquiti, would it act in the same way as the helix pods? Ie. same SSID network name and the devices will automatically switch to the strongest network? I would ideally like one with 2 ports, like the helix, otherwise I'll need to buy a small switch as well. Any recommendations for access point if not going with helix? My hesitation with the helix pods is simply due to price, and the fact that previously, had a lot of trouble getting it to work in this way (however, the other 2 helix pods I have are currently working correctly as access points). Hello, I’m having an issue where if I pause internet to a particular child’s device (iOS, PC, etc), they have figured out a way to simply sign on again as a new device. In assuming it’s by forgetting the wifi network then reconnecting. Is there a way I can prevent this from happening?
