I'm looking for some advice and shared experiences from the Videotron community regarding Wi-Fi performance, especially for those using the Helix Fi gateway (modem/router combo) in a multi-story home or a larger living space.

We recently upgraded to Helix Internet and are using the Helix Fi gateway, but I'm finding that the Wi-Fi coverage and stability can be inconsistent, particularly on different floors and in areas further from the gateway. We experience slow speeds, buffering, and sometimes even drops in connection for devices not in the immediate vicinity of the main router.

I'd like to optimize our setup to get the best possible Wi-Fi performance throughout our home. Specifically, I have a few questions:

Ideal Gateway Placement: For those with multi-story homes, where have you found the Helix Fi gateway to perform best? Is a central location on the main floor generally sufficient, or have you had better luck placing it higher up (e.g., on the second floor)? Are there any specific tips or common pitfalls to avoid regarding placement (e.g., away from certain appliances, thick walls)?
Using Wi-Fi Pods (Extenders): What are your experiences with the Helix Fi Wi-Fi Pods? How many did you need for your home size, and did they significantly improve coverage and speed in dead zones? Third-Party Mesh Systems vs. Helix Fi Pods: Has anyone opted to use a third-party mesh Wi-Fi system (e.g., Google Nest Wifi, Eero, TP-Link Deco) with their Helix Fi gateway? If so, what was your setup process like (e.g., putting Helix Fi in bridge mode), and did you find the performance superior to using Helix Fi Pods? Are there any known compatibility issues or advanced configurations to be aware of?
Channel Optimization: Does the Helix Fi gateway automatically manage Wi-Fi channels effectively, or have you found it beneficial to manually select less congested channels (if that option is available)?
General Troubleshooting Tips: Beyond placement and pods, are there any other "hidden gem" tips or advanced settings within the Helix Fi app or gateway interface that can help improve Wi-Fi stability and speed?
Any detailed advice, personal anecdotes, or technical insights would be greatly appreciated as we aim for a more robust and reliable home Wi-Fi experience.
