HELIX APP on FIRE TV has problems when ISP for TV is changed
Because Videotron is my ISP where I live in Kirkland, I am allowed to use their HELIX app on my mobile and non-mobile devices when I am away from my home. Up until a week ago, I could use the HELIX app on my iPad and iPhone when I was visiting my family member who lives near Valleyfield in spite of the family member not being a Videotron customer. The HELIX app was also working on a Windows PC and a FIRE TV at the same location near Valleyfield using my own HELIX account. A week ago, the family member's ISP (Groupe-Acces Communication/Centre Tess) suddenly closed their business and she was forced to subscribe to a new ISP (Targo), who quickly installed a new fibre optic service with a new modem/router. After this installation, the HELIX app continued to work perfectly on all our devices except on the family member’s FIRE TV. The moment any navigation button was pressed on the TV's remote, the HELIX app took exactly 150 seconds to complete the request. I consulted with GOOGLE AI who suggested that I try connecting the TV to the Videotron HELIX servers using the wi-fi hotspot connection of my iPhone. Doing so corrected the problem, so GOOGLE was satisfied that neither the TV nor its HELIX app was corrupted. I told GOOGLE that the Targo supplied router was making IPv6 available to the TV along with IPv4, and GOOGLE suggested that our 5 year old Toshiba FIRE TV might not have been designed to handle IPv6 efficiently and was taking 150 seconds before defaulting to IPv4. GOOGLE suggested that I ask Targo to remotely turn off IPv6 on our router, which they did, but this did not help. Yesterday, I connected (cascaded) the old router, that previously allowed the FIRE TV to successfully operate the HELIX app with our former ISP, to the new Targo router using a WAN to LAN Ethernet cable. That solved the problem and allowed the HELIX app to run properly on the FIRE TV. Today, I turned off the old router's wireless network so that there would only be one wireless network in the house and the only device that would use the old router would be the FIRE TV. I should point out that we always connect the FIRE TV to its router using an Ethernet cable. I believe that this workaround succeeds because the old TP-LINK router (circa 2012) has a firmware design that allows the communication from the FIRE TV's HELIX app to travel successfully between Targo and Videotron servers, whereas the modern Targo fibre optic router (also TP-LINK), doesn't. There is also the chance that 5 years ago, I tinkered with the old router to force it to route via the Google’s public DNS server (8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4). Apparently going via the GOOGLE DNS cuts Targo out of the loop, so any incompatibilities between Targo and Videotron are no longer an issue. It remains a mystery to me as to whether it was Targo or Videotron who was waiting 150 second before issuing a timeout error. So if you are running HELIX on a FIRE TV that resides in a remote residence not connected to VIDEOTRON and the home owner there is forced to subscribe to a different ISP, don’t throw away the old router.kirklanduser15-07-2025Chevalier56Vues0like2CommentairesStreaming Spotify from Helix to a Yamaha RX-V4A
I have Helix TV and a Yamaha Rx-V4A receiver. The receiver has WiFi and is able to stream music from various sources such as Amazon and various radio stations that also broadcast on the Internet. What I would like to do is "forward" Spotify from the Helix box to my receiver (no TV). Is this possible and if so how do I do it?? The Helix app I installed on my Samsung phone is of no use or I'm missing something.JohnG15-07-2025Initiate5,3 kVues0like12CommentairesTV now boring, nothing new, same shows, same movies, for the past 2-3 years
Is anyone finding that anything shows on TV is now boring, its same shows rerun, same movies every 2-3 months, nothing is new, just replays? A few years ago, I was watching TV series that I liked but they moved away to private streaming companies. What is left on TV is boring. I am not a fan of sports. To start watching again the shows I used to love, I would have to subscribes to 3-4 different streaming companies. Every 1-3 months its the same movies playing that I saw like 3 times at least (Avengers, Transformers, ...). There is nothing new. I am up to the point where I hardly ever watch TV. My wife watches it but she never complains. She hasn't seen them all yet. So am I the only one who thinks that way now? #TVNowBoringBrowser-ice15-07-2025Samurai26Vues0like2Commentaires- GReuter08-07-2025Disciple2,7 kVues3likes3Commentaires

hi, I had had my Helix Gateway installed and now I have an issue with a setup I had. On my old Videotron Wifi I could choose to pick up the 2.4ghz wifi or the 5ghz wifi. This was needed as I have a lot of smart Bulbs in my apartment and they only connect to the app on my phone if I am on the 2.4ghz channel. So with the old system I could set up on the 2.4 channel then just go back to 5 after and they worked. With my Helix being dual channel, sounds great. But I Cannot work out how to switch my phone to pick up only the 2.4ghz. There is not choice to drop down between to broadcasting channels. On my Helix app on my phone it shows both my channels and I tried to find a way to make it so I could either Turn off the 5ghz for a little while or to make it so my phone was forced to pick up the 2.4ghz band. Can anyone help? I have spent over $200 on smart Bulbs for my apartment and now cannot use them properly. And when they are not connected they are full bright. Thanks for any help in Advance.Résoluspawnos25-06-2025Disciple53 kVues1like7CommentairesAppli Helix TV: Appareil manquant pour casting
Merci,JPLavigne16-06-2025Initiate58Vues0like1CommentaireHelix - Change skip forward and skip back rates
Hello, How can I change the default skip forward and back rates on the Helix remote when watching a recorded prohram? By default the skip forward is 5 minutes and so is the skip back which is not very useful. It would be good if these rates could be user configurable. Thanks.RésoluKThomson10-06-2025Squire15 kVues0like11CommentairesHelix Apps - not in US App Store - Apple
I recently purchased a Helix subscription and tried to download the apps but my iPhone is in the US App Store. I can’t switch to the Canadian App Store because I currently have subscriptions that I’ve paid for from the US App Store which I will lose if I switch. Why aren’t the helix apps available in the US App Store? I know this seems like a niche problem, but I feel like I’m missing out on the whole experience without the apps, especially the TV app. Are there any work arounds?Mchris00702-06-2025Initiate2 kVues0like8CommentairesHDMI

Does this not bother anyone? I used to be able to see the programs I recorded on my TV. Now I have to scroll through sixty or seventy shows (recorded by others in the house) to find my show. GuntherRésoluGunther21-04-2025Initiate54Vues0like1CommentaireRecordings on Helix TV Device
Is it possible to program repeating recordings limited to a specific channel, time and e.g. day of week? For example, record a specific series on Channel X every Wednesday from 8-9PM --- and nothing else. I can program single-event recordings and also "all new episodes". However, the latter option seems to find way too many instances, even if restricted to a single channel. Perhaps the program guide is not populated properly, but in any case, I can't do what I want. I could do this just fine on Illico. Is there a way of doing it on Helix? Any pointers much appreciated.vlfiausv18-04-2025Initiate54Vues0like1CommentaireQualité 540p 30fps sur Hélix.tv (Web) ?
