Shows that made their premise obsolete
Hello everyone,, Something that I was thinking of when comparing Designated Survivor and Madam Secretary as two similarly contrived network political shows in this post. The main takeaway is that DS basically seems to have a conspiracy plot it cannot escape, due to it being the main hook of the show (Madam Secretary on the other hand was able to just become a general politics show and let go of the conspiracy stuff). Yet, that plot was adequately finished at the end of S1 so the show risked becoming just another politics show, which would make the main hook obsolete. As a result, the show basically has to continually whip **blip** out of its ass to keep the hook (and Maggie Q, whose main relevance was to the now irrelevant conspiracy arc) relevant. I'm wondering about other shows that started with a main hook or premise that they just totally resolved or made irrelevant but kept going. How did they fare after? Did they get better? Worse?
Only recording 8 seconds of a specific show
Any idea why I can never get my pvr to fully record 'the five' on foxnews news? It only records 4-8 seconds, every single day and I don't know why. Even if I set it up to manually record, I still only got 6 seconds today I have hundreds of series recordings setup that never fail. 'the five' is the only show I can consistently reproduce this issue with

I've had HELIX with GIGA speed for almost 3 years. So far, it's been pretty reliable but there are occasional interruptions and slowdowns. Certainly better than Illico. But over the last 2 months, I've been losing Internet or WiFi connections several times during the day. These are short disruptions...a minute or a few. Several times too the HELIX receivers can't connect to the gateway. But after a few minutes it's OK. It's become a real annoyance. So I called technical support last week. They told me right away that I have electromagnetic interference. Apparently, they have a tool that tells them this. Happens at fairly regular intervals not not exactly at predicable times and rarely overnight. But nothing has changed in my home. The gateway is still in the same place and nothing is blocking it. I haven't bought anything like a soundbar or smart TV or any new appliance. This problem has come out of nowhere. Maybe a neighbor? I live in brick a home and my neighbor's homes are all brick too. I have a hard time believing that's the cause. Anyone else have a similar problem? How do you go about finding the problem. The support guy said I could download the NetSpot app which I did. But I can't really figure out how this product works. Any one have experience with such a tool? If this continues, I'm going to Switch to Bell Fibre direct 3.0 Gbps.How does www.lowes.com survey improve shopping?

Helix Resume glitch
I have been calling Videotron support since December about an issue with the "resume" feature. I cannot watch 2 events at the same time (with 2 recorded) as the resume always goes back to the start of the recorded program. Illico did not require you to record 1 of the programs. You could just go between the 2 and it would resume properly. 2 or 8 programs were automatically being recorded. In any case, I have been trying to get info on when this would be fixed. No help at all. But I was told that Videotron uses Comcast Xfinity SW. Which I did not know. Turns out this is not a bug. I'm not sure which is more frustrating: Not having the primary feature for which I have Helix (recording sports) or no one at Videotron seemingly being aware of the issueHelix sous Linux
J'ai trouvé plein de conversations sur le sujet avec plein de belles promesses depuis avant 2020. Ceci étant dit, nous sommes en 2026 et c'est rendu que DELL, Lenovo, HP vendent un bon pourcentage d'ordinateurs avec Linux installé nativement. Avec les problèmes de stabilité, de performance, le bloatware AI et Copilot qui espionne les usagers, Lenovo prévoit même vendre 60% de ses ordinateurs avec Linux installé d'ici quelques années. C'est prévu pour quand le réveil chez Videotron. Pour la compagnie avant-gardiste que vous disez être, vous manquez le bateau. Aucun autre site de streaming ne pose ce problème sur Linux.
Streaming Spotify from Helix to a Yamaha RX-V4A
I have Helix TV and a Yamaha Rx-V4A receiver. The receiver has WiFi and is able to stream music from various sources such as Amazon and various radio stations that also broadcast on the Internet. What I would like to do is "forward" Spotify from the Helix box to my receiver (no TV). Is this possible and if so how do I do it?? The Helix app I installed on my Samsung phone is of no use or I'm missing something.
Illico TV to Helix TV - A step backwards in some functionality
Hello, just switched to Helix from illico TV and although the Internet speeds are better, the Helix TV is not as good as illicoTv. 1. Illico TV when you were on a channel and something comes up where you can't continue to watch your show, you press record and it would record from start to end. On Helix TV it does not do that, it records at the point in time you pressed record. 2. On Helix TV you have the option to restart a show. However it does not allow you to fast forward, you have to press Go to Live and then rewind to reach the point in time that you want. If you went too far by mistake, you can't forward... You have to go live and then rewind. What the heck functionality is that!!?? 3. Illico TV had 1 hour buffer, Helix TV has 25 minutes. If you wanted to go back 30 minutes in time. You have to restart, go to live, then rewind 30 minutes. Can't fast forward, and what is annoying is that some shows you can fast forward so it's not consistent. I have 30 days to go back to illico. However can you stay on Helix internet and go back to Illico TV??? If they can put the 1 hour buffer, record the start of a show if you were on the channel from the beginning, fast forwarding in on demand on Helix TV that would already be a good step in the right direction.
Helix TV Issue "Channel Temporarily Unavailable"
I have always had this issue, but disregarded it because I didn't watch too much TV. However, now that the Olympics are on, I've been watching much more often. The issue I'm experiencing is that every time I watch Helix TV, after a few minutes, the three dots appear on the screen as if it's loading something. After sometime, the error message shows up "This channel is temporarily unavailable". While this is happening, I can hear the sound of the channel in the background, and can change channels, but I can't see anything except the 3 dots. Clicking "Try Again" or "Cancel" does not do anything. Guide still works and the Helix button brings up the menu, but when anything is selected, it just shows the 3 dots loading. The only thing that fixes this is to unplug the box and plug it back in, but then after a few minutes the problem starts up again. I have tried changing HDMI cables, changing the Helix box from the old (Gen 1) to the more recent (Gen 2), but still am having the same problem. Please see the screenshot for a better understanding. Has anyone experienced this before, and if so, what was the solution?Issue with HELIX Recording Playback
With Helix, do all recorded programs start from the beginning when you play them again? I could swear that if you played a recorded show and paused it after X minutes, changed the channel and then came back to watch the recorded program, it would start from where you paused, not from the beginning. It is not doing that anymore. Was there a firmware update that changed this? I know for a fact that it was not always like this because I would record a sporting event and play it while watching another live show by going back and forth between the two. When I went back to play the recorded sporting event, it would play from where I paused. But now it always starts from the beginning of the recording.
