The Videotron Community user guide (hereinafter the “Guide”) governs the way in which internet users can interactively contribute to the Community. This guide applies to any contribution to the Community by an internet user and, more generally, any page where internet users can post comments, express themselves, contribute and enrich online content.
Preamble : In order to contribute to the Community, you must create an account on the Community home page, in the Registration section. You must be at least 18 years old to create a Community account. You may also create an account through your Facebook profile; if you choose to connect through your Facebook profile, Videotron and the Community will have access to your public profile information.
Be courteous: On the Videotron community, people are expected to talk in a courteous and polite manner. These are fundamental rules, both in the virtual and in the real world. Messages containing offensive, inappropriate, rude, obscene, abusive, discriminatory, racist, sexist, heinous, hurtful or repetitive language will be deleted. The use of only upper case letters (which are equivalent to shouting on the internet) is prohibited.
Be respectful: Freedom of expression is one of the most important fundamental freedoms in any democratic society and must be respected. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if you do not agree. Discussions may sometimes be lively, but attacks on an individual, a company or society will not be tolerated. Your contribution must never be contrary to common decency, public order, or the laws and regulations in force. Any comment that calls the moderator’s actions into question will be deleted. You are fully responsible for your contribution. Should you wish to file a complaint, please send a private message to the Community Manager.
Be constructive: We are here, above all, to help each other. If you have the answer to a question, please do not hesitate to share it. The Community is a place where the emphasis is on solutions, rather than a place to share one’s frustrations.
Humour: Humour on the internet is a delicate concept, as the perfect range of your emotions is difficult to transmit in your contribution. Culture, language and humour vary significantly from one internet user to the next. Think twice before making a joke.
Respect the topics and languages: The various sections of the Community have been put in place for a purpose. Please respect the topics discussed in each section and in the publications found in them. We will delete any comment that is unrelated to the mission of the Community, the discussion topics or the comments of other individuals. Also, think about writing in the language of the Community: if you click on the French version, write in French. If you click on the English version, express yourself in English. Your posts might be moved by a moderator if you ever write in a language that’s different from the version you’re using.
Official statements: Only the comments posted by the website moderators constitute official responses from Videotron. Videotron employees may participate in the Community in a personal capacity but they are not speaking for the company.
Moderators: The Community moderators aren’t customer service reps. They can’t answer questions about problems with your customer account, such as billing or privileges. If you have a specific question about your account, please go to the
Contact Us page for the appropriate contact info.
Respect the law: The laws in force in Quebec also apply to the Community. Do not publish any content that is known to you to be false, fraudulent, deceptive, illegal, inaccurate or misleading. The violation of intellectual property laws is also prohibited on the Community. No threats, whether physical or material, will be tolerated; neither will harassment and cyberbullying. With your contribution, you must not incite hate, violence, or the commission of criminal or illegal actions. We also reserve the right to remove any comment relating to legal or financial matters.
Protect your personal information: The Community is a public space visible to everyone. For your safety, please do not publish personal information about yourself or a third party (for example, mailing or electronic addresses, telephone numbers). If necessary, we will contact you directly by private message. Please remember that your contribution must never infringe on the right to reputation, a third party’s right to privacy and a person’s right of publicity.
Copyright: By submitting your contribution, you accept and acknowledge that you are granting a non-exclusive, transferable and perpetual licence to Videotron to use your contribution in any and all media, now known or hereafter devised. You must, at all times, own all of the rights required, including , without limitation, intellectual property rights, for any contribution you make to the Community. Therefore, Videotron may, without any remuneration, publicly or privately broadcast, telecast, encode, distribute, reproduce (in whole or in part), modify, display, communicate, adapt, post, edit, publish, translate and, more generally, use your contribution. In addition, you hereby waive any moral right in your contribution. Subject to the rights granted above, you retain the intellectual property rights and copyrights to your contribution.
No spam or solicitation: The Community is not a place to promote your business or sell your services. We will delete any comment that may be considered spam or that openly promotes your products or services, or the products and services of a third party. Flooding and spamming are prohibited. You may not set up any pyramid scheme, send chain letters, engage in hacking, or divert contributions.
Your opinion: Your contribution is a reflection of your thoughts, preferences, tastes and, more generally, yourself. You cannot suggest that your contribution is made on behalf of a third party, unless you are expressly authorized to do so. You cannot give the impression, suggest, lead to believe, or imply that Videotron approves, shares or endorses your contribution, unless you are expressly authorized to do so.
