Returning equipment during pandemic

I recently closed my account and services, when I tried to return my equipment on march 27 everything was closed, when i called customer service i was told they wouldnt accept my equipment even if they were open. That i wouldnt be charged for anything after march 27 and a note was placed in my file. However.. seems ive started a new billing month on my account.. how can i return the modem so i can get my credit back.. money is beyond tight at the moment.
