Is bridge mode really passthru?
I just switched from regular modem from videotron to Helix. I have put helix in bridge mode. Since then, I am not able to connect to my FTP server at home. When connecting the helix portal via the web interface, nothing is related to firewall. And since I am in bridge mode, I cannot use the Helix app. So Is there anything I am missing?

Hellohugoleveille,
Yes, Helix bridge mode is passthru, but it disables routing features like firewall and port forwarding. You must configure these on your own router. To restore FTP access, ensure port 21 is forwarded correctly and your router’s firewall allows external connections. hha exchange

Bridge mode should basically be passthrough, so the Helix itself shouldn’t be blocking your FTP. I’d double-check if it’s really bridged (your router should be getting a public IP) and then look at your router’s port forwarding/firewall rules. Sometimes after switching equipment, the internal IPs change, so the old port forward won’t work until it’s updated. Also, if you’re using passive FTP, make sure the whole passive port range is open, not just port 21. Most likely it’s a config on your router rather than the Helix blocking it.

Yes, in the context of a router or gateway, bridge mode acts as a passthrough, disabling the device's routing, NAT, and Wi-Fi functions so it functions as a simple modem or switch to pass traffic to another router. While some devices use the term "IP passthrough" as an alternative, true bridge mode completely turns the device into a "dumb" modem, allowing a primary router to manage the network and receive the public IP address.

Bridge mode works, but the gateway's wifi radios are not disabled. The gateway keeps broadcasting a couple internal hidden wifi networks on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. These have hidden SSIDs, so only seen with a wifi scanner, but they do use wifi bandwidth and can interfere with your router.
So it works, but unfortunately not a "true bridge mode".

Just to be clear, port fowarding is done and this setup as beend working for years. The only thing that changed is old videotron modem to helix in bridge mode
