Can I manually change DNS configuration on Helix?
Hello, I am looking to manually configure the DNS settings on my Helix router, but this seems to NOT be an option. This is to improve my home network security to point at Canadian Shield DNS servers.
Will Videotron provide users with this ability, or will in be forced to find an ISP that allows this?
Kindest regards,

Any ETA on when it will be possible to modify DNS servers to specify the ones we want to use? I find it completely ridiculous that it is not possible to do it already because it is a basic option. It is pathetic to be forced to pay for the Helix router and then stop using it and purchase another router.
Since it is a basic option it should not be that much difficult for Videotron to deploy an update to enable the user to modify the DNS servers and having this possibility won't harm the user who don't care about this.

Good morning RickyMartin. We hear you and we understand that this would help but right now, we do not have an ETA for this feature. We'll keep our customers posted when it becomes available. Thank you!

Any update YET ??? The HELIS DNS is REALLY not doing his job, slow to find web pages :(

Have there been any developments on this front? Being able to modify your DNS has been a standard feature on routers for basically as long as routers have existed so not having that option of Helix is a big letdown.

Hello,
As of now, if you would like to have your own DNS servers on Helix, you would need to use a personal router in bridge mode and configure that router to have the DNS servers of your choosing.

Thanks for the information, I am now questionning this option, Can you tell me how adding a router to the HELIX that has permanent DNS, will solve my problem of SLOW answer on Helix DNS ???
The router will still have to use HElix DNS to get to internet ....How is this method will solve the problem ?

Any updates related to update DNS server Helix router ??

We unfortunately do not have more information in this regard at the moment. However, the suggestion has been well reported, I assure you. The current alternative remains either to configure the DNS servers manually on your personal equipment when possible or to use a personal Wi-Fi router via the bridge mode function. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Interesting question! While direct DNS config on Helix might be limited, consider router-level changes if possible for network-wide security. Canadian Shield is a great choice! Alternatively, DNS settings on individual devices work too. For a fun break while troubleshooting, try – a fast-paced, easy-to-play skiing game for a quick stress reliever! Hope you find a solution!

Unfortunately, the Helix Fi gateway provided by Videotron does not allow users to manually change DNS settings at the router level. Users have reported that the Helix router lacks this functionality, requiring DNS changes to be made individually on each connected device .(YouTube, Reddit)
If you need to use custom DNS servers (e.g., Google DNS or Cloudflare) across your entire network, consider the following options:
- Manual Configuration on Each Device: Adjust the DNS settings on each device connected to your network.(Reddit)
- Use a Separate Router: Connect a personal router that supports DNS customization to your Helix gateway. Set the Helix gateway to bridge mode, allowing your router to manage DNS settings.
- Third-Party DNS Services: Utilize services like Pi-hole for network-wide DNS management. Note that this may require additional configuration and hardware.
