15 SujetsChanging DNS servers in Helix Fi
This question has been asked in 2 other threads on this forum in 2023 and 2025 with the only solutions being to either change the DNS setting on each device connected to the Helix gateway or to buy a router and connect to the gateway in bridged mode. I have a better suggestion: Videotron developers *finally* update the Helix Fi app by adding an "Edit" button on the DNS server page to allow paying customers to change it there. How hard can that be? We can edit other features on the gateway like the DMZ, so why not the DNS settings?? I get that the hardware runs on Comcast's Xfinity xFi platform which locks down advanced networking configurations to prioritize ecosystem integration, support simplicity, and security over user customization. In light of that, just add a check box next to a statement that says something like: "I understand that changing the default DNS settings may cause Vidéotron Helix services (including Helix TV, parental controls, and advanced security features) to malfunction or stop working entirely. I agree that Vidéotron is not responsible for any service disruptions caused by custom DNS configurations, and that Vidéotron technical support cannot assist in troubleshooting network issues arising from these changes. I assume full responsibility for managing my custom network settings." I would be willing to check that box!7Vues0like0CommentaireGame slow down on Helix Fi - solution.
When playing Call of Duty with a new Helix Fi modem. Things would work but after about half an hour, the game would start lagging until finally it was unplayable - this is still the case as I tested this again yesterday and the problem persists. I could not find any way to set uplink QOS on the Helix Fi so finally I put it in Bridge Mode and connected my own Netgear R6400 router. This worked very well and I do not actually have to set any uplink QOS. My question is why there is there no discussion about gaming issues with the Helix Fi modem/router here on the forum. I could not find any solution or even discussion. I've only found Redit discussions that did not offer solutions. I'm curious why this is not a bigger issue. Are other Helix users gaming - in particular COD - without issues?Résolu924Vues0like3CommentairesAdresse IP
Hey everyone,

I wanted to share a quick tip for those who rely on VoIP or internet calling services while traveling or working remotely. I've been using Stag VPN recently to stabilize my internet connection during calls, especially over public or shared networks.

Before using it, I often had call drops or jitter issues with my internet telephony setup. But with Stag VPN, the connection feels more stable and secure. It routes traffic efficiently and helps avoid ISP throttling or region-based disruptions.

Anyone else here tried using a VPN for internet calling? Would love to hear your experience or other recommendations!

Tags: #VoIP, #VPN, #StagVPN, #InternetCalling, #RemoteWork
Et le problème reviens toujours!260Vues0like2CommentairesForwarding ports in Helix Fi app not actually forwarding them
Hello, I've used my Helix Fi app to forward ports. For some reason, some ports do open and others don't. I.e. on the same device, I have 9443 open (and showing as such on various online tools) but then 443, 80, 82 and 8221 are marked as open by Helix Fi, but the same online tools are showing them as closed. Any reason why? I've looked online and haven't seen a mention of Vidéotron blocking those specific ports. Thank you761Vues0like2CommentairesHow can I change the DNS servers used on my Helix Fi?
Morning, I was wondering how I could change the primary and secondary DNS servers on my Helix Fi via the web gateway (10.0.0.1)? Currently when I go to (Gateway > Connection > Videotron Network) I can see the two DNS servers used, but I cannot edit them.Résolu5,4 kVues2likes7CommentairesAccess Windows PC de l'extérieur avec port-forwarding
