I've had HELIX with GIGA speed for almost 3 years. So far, it's been pretty reliable but there are occasional interruptions and slowdowns. Certainly better than Illico. But over the last 2 months, I've been losing Internet or WiFi connections several times during the day. These are short disruptions...a minute or a few. Several times too the HELIX receivers can't connect to the gateway. But after a few minutes it's OK. It's become a real annoyance. So I called technical support last week. They told me right away that I have electromagnetic interference. Apparently, they have a tool that tells them this. Happens at fairly regular intervals not not exactly at predicable times and rarely overnight. But nothing has changed in my home. The gateway is still in the same place and nothing is blocking it. I haven't bought anything like a soundbar or smart TV or any new appliance. This problem has come out of nowhere. Maybe a neighbor? I live in brick a home and my neighbor's homes are all brick too. I have a hard time believing that's the cause. Anyone else have a similar problem? How do you go about finding the problem. The support guy said I could download the NetSpot app which I did. But I can't really figure out how this product works. Any one have experience with such a tool? If this continues, I'm going to Switch to Bell Fibre direct 3.0 Gbps.
Issue with HELIX Recording Playback
With Helix, do all recorded programs start from the beginning when you play them again? I could swear that if you played a recorded show and paused it after X minutes, changed the channel and then came back to watch the recorded program, it would start from where you paused, not from the beginning. It is not doing that anymore. Was there a firmware update that changed this? I know for a fact that it was not always like this because I would record a sporting event and play it while watching another live show by going back and forth between the two. When I went back to play the recorded sporting event, it would play from where I paused. But now it always starts from the beginning of the recording.
Hélix in Florida
Hi community. I am spending the winter in Florida. My helix is recording programs back home in Saint Jerome. When I try to watch my pre-recorded programs or live television here in Florida, I get an error message saying that I do not have access in this country. I have installed a VPN with an IP address in Montreal I still have no access to my recorded programming or live television. Has anyone found a workaround for this problem?Blocked ports on Helix
I was surprised when I started looking at my firewall logs and doing test myself that it now seems that Helix is letting through some tcp & udp ports that were previously blocked in the past. Can someone from Videotron check if someone removed an ACL on your side? Port forwarding using ip adress - Helix Fi
Hi, I'm trying to portforward a port to a server running linux. I know for a fact the device is connected to the internet via my helix router. However, it doesnt show up in the list of connected device on the app. Therefore when i try to create a port forwarding rule my server doesnt show in the possible devices to forward to. I, very annoyingly, cant just enter the ip adress to port forward to. Is there a workaround to this badly designed system? Or is there a way to use an ip adress when setting up port forwarding? Edit: The server doesnt use an IPv6 adress. I can ping the gateway from the server without any packet loss
Problems with my IP address
Hi there. I’ve been trying for several months now to open network settings in the browser. Before it worked fine, but it seems that my browser is not able to reach my public IP anymore. The browser tries to load it for a minute and gives an error. I also encountered problems with running servers on my PC. I tried to solve this problem for like a month or so and couldn't find any information about that. I have literally checked everything available on the internet with no results. I appreciate any help from you.
