flashing power buttons

I am using a  New Generation remote (UEI) for my Illico service. In the last few days, the power buttons for tv and cable turn red when any button is pressed. This has never happened before. The Videotron help site says slow red flashing power light means low batteries. Fast flashing red means a problem with the device which requires support help. In my case, the flash is neither slow or fast. The button just turns red when any button is pressed and stays on until the button is released.

The batteries were weak so I changed them. No difference. Performance of the remote does not seem to be affected. Can this be fixed or do I need a new remote (mine is rented)?

Hello, thebluejay. 

It is normal to have your New generation remote's LED indicator light up whenever you are pressing buttons. There is only an issue if there is some sort of flashing of the LED, which doesnt appear to be the case here.
