I've had HELIX with GIGA speed for almost 3 years. So far, it's been pretty reliable but there are occasional interruptions and slowdowns. Certainly better than Illico. But over the last 2 months, I've been losing Internet or WiFi connections several times during the day. These are short disruptions...a minute or a few. Several times too the HELIX receivers can't connect to the gateway. But after a few minutes it's OK. It's become a real annoyance. So I called technical support last week. They told me right away that I have electromagnetic interference. Apparently, they have a tool that tells them this. Happens at fairly regular intervals not not exactly at predicable times and rarely overnight. But nothing has changed in my home. The gateway is still in the same place and nothing is blocking it. I haven't bought anything like a soundbar or smart TV or any new appliance. This problem has come out of nowhere. Maybe a neighbor? I live in brick a home and my neighbor's homes are all brick too. I have a hard time believing that's the cause. Anyone else have a similar problem? How do you go about finding the problem. The support guy said I could download the NetSpot app which I did. But I can't really figure out how this product works. Any one have experience with such a tool? If this continues, I'm going to Switch to Bell Fibre direct 3.0 Gbps.
Issue with HELIX Recording Playback
With Helix, do all recorded programs start from the beginning when you play them again? I could swear that if you played a recorded show and paused it after X minutes, changed the channel and then came back to watch the recorded program, it would start from where you paused, not from the beginning. It is not doing that anymore. Was there a firmware update that changed this? I know for a fact that it was not always like this because I would record a sporting event and play it while watching another live show by going back and forth between the two. When I went back to play the recorded sporting event, it would play from where I paused. But now it always starts from the beginning of the recording.
Hélix in Florida
Hi community. I am spending the winter in Florida. My helix is recording programs back home in Saint Jerome. When I try to watch my pre-recorded programs or live television here in Florida, I get an error message saying that I do not have access in this country. I have installed a VPN with an IP address in Montreal I still have no access to my recorded programming or live television. Has anyone found a workaround for this problem?
Saving a program to another medium, like my computer
I recorded a program (that I appear on!) on my Helix device and it is going to expire soon. My siblings live in different countries and I would like them to be able to see it. I have two questions: 1. How can I refresh a program so that it doesn't expire after a year, but I can keep it for longer? 2. How could I transfer a recorded program to another medium, like a computer file, so that I could send it to my siblings for viewing? Thank you
Helix TV updates
Those of you who are with Helix TV for a long time, do we see regular software updates on that TV service? I see people complaining about small software issues (on these forums) that should be easy to resolve if they had a few developers assigned to maintain this software product. But it's possible they only invest minimal budget in maintenance to only deal with hardware obsolescence and the most serious issues, such as crash and stability problems. So is the Helix TV software product continuously evolving with new features and improvements? Or is it mostly the same since its introduction?
