Helix Unable to black a device

HI

I really hope someone can help me  here.

I use the Helix Fi app to manage the devices on my network and noticed that I am unable to "Pause" my daughter's wifi usage. I can see her Iphone 11 on the list of devices. I am able to select pause and it shows that her device is paused but she is still able to use the wifi. I even logged in the the Router and it shows many MAC addresses for her phone. How is that possible?

I can block all other devices in my household but for some reason, she is able to bypass the blocking.

Please help!

thanks

Milton

  • Controlling internet access with randomized MAC addresses on iPhones and Android phones requires moving beyond traditional MAC filtering. Instead, focus on using DHCP reservations tied to the device's hardware MAC address (after EZ Pass PA instructing users to disable randomization for your network), configuring static IP addresses and controlling access by those IPs, or exploring advanced features in your Helix FI gateway like device fingerprinting or user-based authentication if available. Check your Helix gateway settings for DHCP, connected devices, and access control options, and consult its documentation for specific recommendations.

  • Your daughter, I assume on an ios device such as Iphone, is using "private wi-fi address" under settings for the wi-fi connection.  It will list at least two mac addresses per device.

you must associate both devices to her profile and pause both.

  • Your daughter is, assuming its an ios device like an iphone, using "Private wi-fi Address".  A setting under the connexion settings.

It creates at least a second MAC Address for the device.

You then need to pause both MAC Address/devices in helixfi
