Re: Ottawa Coverage/Data speeds
Thanks for the reply, It's what I sort of figured, I was kind of hoping for a golden nugget, from someone saying that they had confirmation from Videotron and they were working on a fix, since it's obviously been there for quite a while. I'll probably try and reach out to them directly and see what they say. I'm not going to hold my breath though. All Telco's seem to be the same, but I can always hope. With the exception of this issue in general I'm happy with the service and the price point. If it wasn't the corner of the city where I lived and spent a good chunk of my time, I probably wouldn't even notice it.55Vues0like1CommentaireOttawa Coverage/Data speeds
Hi ! I switch to Videotron a number of years ago (2018 to be exact). I have been mostly content with the service I've gotten in Ottawa, with the exception of the South/West end. The service there (Barrhaven for example) has been patchy at best. Often I find that even though I have full signal according to the phone, I will drop calls, and/or data is so slow it's almost non existent, or I won't get much of any signal, it' comes and goes. At the time I switched, I decided to make the move because the pricing was much better than Rogers, so my feeling was even if I got the same service, at least it would be cheaper lol. I somewhat expected this back in 2018 since at that point Rogers was having the same issues. I had many arguments with Rogers before I left, and their excuse was that it was some sort of interference from the Airport. Telus and Bell do not have the same issue. Fast forward to 2025, things don't seem to have changed much. I'm sort of wondering if anyone else has the same experience. Have you tried to complain ? Other areas in Ottawa seem to be better, especially downtown. It doesn't seem to matter if I'm on a direct Videotron tower, or a Partner tower (usually Rogers), the service is the same. I'm not asking for 400mbps speed, but something more than 2 or 3mbps down and 1mbps up would be nice :)94Vues0like3CommentairesRe: Horrible service during power outage
We had issues last year when there was a major power outage in Ottawa for several days in some areas, but in that case just about every carrier had issues, and it took a while before the issues started.. In this case it was almost instant.. 5-10 min after power went out I tried to report it to hydro and had no data. I'll get in contact with Videotron, and see what they say.7,7 kVues0like1CommentaireHorrible service during power outage
Hi, This past friday my neighbourhood got hit by a thunderstorm. Nothing unexpected during a summer heat wave. During that storm we lost power at my house. This outage lasted about 7 hours. The Question I have is that as soon as the power went out (6:21 pm), I lost all data on all my devices (both my wife's phone and mine). While I still had service, and I could make a voice call anything else was questinoable. Text messages were hit and miss if people got them, MMS messages did not go and we most certainly couldn't use any true data. We also rebooted both devcies several times. I can understand that under an extended outage service could be impacted (tower batteries die etc etc), but to loose all data instantly is something I've never experienced before with any of my other carriers. For what it's worth I'm in Barrhaven Ontario (a Suburb of Ottawa) and the phones were reporting that they were on Videotron not a partner network. While internet is not a critical part of life, it tends to be the go to option for getting updates on power outages and bad weather status's. Can someone explain to me the cuase of this ? and is this something I can expect as normal operation with Videotron ? Tks, DaveRésolu7,8 kVues0like5CommentairesRe: Partner network data connectivity issues
I'm seeing the same issues with a Blackbery PRiV. I recently moved from Rogers to Videotron. Had it for about a week before I left the country on a **blip**.. during that week everything seemed fine (a little isssue the first time we put in the sim). but after I crossed into AT&T territory things have been horrible. the first day I lost data probably 10 times.. having to reboot to get it to come back, sometimes multiple times. For the last 2 days I have been basically stationary in a city in Ohio, and I have had NO data, no matter what I do. Switching airplane mode on and off didnt Work either. My brother is sitting right beside me (still on rogers with a blackberry passport) and has had zero trouble the entire **blip** with data. one thing I just tried was taking the phone off automatic network and manually setting AT&T. That seems to have given me data back but unsure for how long. That being said, I shouldn't have to manually select networks. I'm at a loss at the moment as to what it could be other than a defective SIM???????? not sure if a bad sim could give me voice but no data ? Thanks for any assistance.8,6 kVues0like0Commentaire
