How does pre authorized payment work?

For the preauthorized payment, it must be added in your videotron customer area or call the customer service, for the invoice that is already sent must be paid manually.

can i set it up so it pays right away, then i wont have to worry about not paying in time

Pre payments pass on the due date of the bill.

To have it pay right away, you would have to do it through your bank but that takes a few days to show up in the system.
