Network doesn't show on phone?

I have a colleague with a S9+... he is with Rogers... and he bought his device with Rogers too.
He doesn't see the Rogers network name in the status bar...

Well, I did it. The phone now shows the proper VTR in settings, which makes me feel better. Hopefully my roaming will be trouble free, won't be able to check that for months.
I still don't see Videotron in the status bar, just when I pull down as I described above. I'm now starting to question if I indeed saw it on the bar with Rogers, or if that was my old phone. I bought this S9 about 6 months ago.
Note for anyone else attempting this, there's a typo above. The proper command is *#272*Phone’s IMEI#

Interesting. Maybe it's just an S9 weirdness.
