Wifi calling

What does a guest/ public wifi hotspot need to have enabled or feature support must it have in order that I can use my wifi calling? I tried to make wifi calls while at the malls here in Fort Lauderdale and noticed I could use data but not the wifi calling feature. How come?

Regarding your situation, it could be that the public WiFi network is not properly configured to let you use WiFi calling. Sometimes these networks are blocking certain ports and this will block certain services. Are you able to use WiFi calling in your hotel room or where you are currently residing?
