To switch from a Bell modem to Helix Pods, you will first need to ensure compatibility. Helix Pods are designed to work seamlessly with Bell Fibe Internet, so verify that your existing Bell modem (such as the Home Hub 3000 or 4000) supports this upgrade. If you're replacing your old modem entirely, start by unplugging it from the power source and disconnecting any cables.
Next, set up the primary Helix modem or gateway by connecting it to your Bell Fibe line, which may be through an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) or a phone jack, depending on your setup. Once connected, power on the Helix modem and wait for the Wi-Fi light to stabilize, indicating that it’s ready for use. This step is crucial as the Helix modem will serve as the main hub for your new mesh network.
After the modem is active, you can begin pairing your Helix Pods. Place the first pod within a reasonable range of the Helix modem—ideally in an open area for optimal signal strength. Press the pairing button on the pod and wait for the LED light to turn solid white, confirming a successful connection. Repeat this process for any additional pods, strategically placing them in different rooms to extend Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home.
Once all pods are paired, connect your devices to the new Helix Wi-Fi network. The network name (SSID) and password are typically found on a label attached to the Helix modem. For the best performance, ensure that the pods are placed in central locations, avoiding obstructions like thick walls or electronic interference from devices such as microwaves.
If you encounter issues during setup, such as a pod failing to pair, try resetting it and attempting the process again. For persistent problems, Bell’s customer support (310-BELL) can provide further assistance. Keep in mind that while Helix Pods can function as extenders with an existing Bell modem, replacing the old modem with a Helix gateway may deliver the best performance. This upgrade ensures a stronger, more reliable Wi-Fi mesh network tailored to your home’s needs.
