Re: Configure Helix fi through an amplifer
I think as long as your amplifier has HDMI in and out ports (e.g. AV receiver), you can connect the Helix TV HDMI output to the amplifier HDMI in and TV HDMI in to amplifier HDMI out. In such case, the sound will go through amplifier and picture go to TV (passing through amplifier).3,1 kVues0like0CommentaireRe: Remote recording on PVR
Although my cell phone happens to be from Videotron, I don't think it matter which mobile provider for Helix TV app as long as it can connect with Internet. Of course, if you are not using Videotron Wifi network connection, you have some limitations on only accessing the "Helix Go channels". But I am not sure whether that limitation also applies to recording if you are not actually remotely watch the non Helix go channels2,8 kVues0like1CommentaireHelix TV app Chromecast low picture quality
I don't know if this only happens to me. I noticed the picture quality when it's being casted from mobile app (e.g. from your phone or tablet via Helix TV app) is much lower than watching the same program via Helix TV box. The images (much easier to tell by comparing the fonts from the news program for example) are blur with fussy edges. Another thing I found is that, the picture quality is much better (still lower than the one from the TV box) for the first 1 min (~ 45 seconds actually) then starts to get blurring. At the beginning I suspected might be due to my Chromecast (internet) connection issues. But on the same device, all other Apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime video are casted crystal clear. Also, I tried on other Chromecast devices, including the newest edition with GoogleTV, and they are also behaving the same. Speaking of the other casting behavior like from Netflix is that normally the picture quality is lower for the the first minute or so then becomes much clear. It looks like taking sometime to buffer which is understandable. But the Helix casting behavior seems be doing the opposite way. So wondering have other Helix users seeing the same? Or is this a technical issue, hopefully not a business reason behind this ;-), already known to Videotron?Résolu5,9 kVues0like2CommentairesRe: How to install Helix App on an Android TV box such as a NVIDIA Shield or other ?
I have tried to side load the helix APK on Amazon Fire TV and newest Chromecast GoogleTV (the one allows to install apps). In both cases, the Helix app can be launched (passed the login) and I can see the UI. On the FireTV, it cannot display any content (channels, recordings etc.) and says something like cannot find such info. On GoogleTV, it actually displays all my info (channels, recordings) as if everything is normal. However, when I try to watch any live channel or recordings, it says "This video stream is not playable under the current device condition...". So I guess the app intentionally blocks such usage until it officially supports it13 kVues0like1CommentaireRe: helix bridge mod - android app performance
I am not the person asking the original question in this topic😉. I have similar issue/situation so I added above comment. In my case, I do have some devices directly/wired connected to Helix via a local switch (yes otherwise the 2 Ethernet ports from Helix Fi is not enough). So if I use both router as double NAT, I cannot access my NAS (on Helix network) from my phone (on my wifi router). By enabling the bridge mode on my Wifi network makes all devices on the same LAN so see each other. I still enable the Helix wifi (my Helix TV is on it) otherwise it's kind of wasted.6 kVues0like0CommentaireRe: helix bridge mod - android app performance
Wouldn't the double NAT cause potential problems for your devices connecting each other if they are scattered to two different LAN (IP subnet)? For example, if your Chromecast devices are connected to Helix wifi (LAN) and your mobile phone on another (from Linksys), or vice verse, can you still cast video? I put my own wifi mesh in bridge mode while still offers its own wifi under a different SSID. So I have two wifi access points connecting to the same LAN (sub net).6 kVues0like2CommentairesRe: How to login to helix fi gateway?
I tried the "admin"/"password" combination and did not work. I believe the "password written under my Helix-Fi gateway" is for the default wifi (under default SSID like "HELIX-17xx"). I tried it anyway using username "admin" and it did not work. I have also tried other strings under the bottom of the Helix router but none worked. I am pretty sure I haven't changed anything after the initial installation 1 week ago. So any suggestions how to find the default username and password to access web admin UI? Thanks in advance.158 kVues0like5Commentaires
