Assigning DNS for Helix

Hello, I am looking to manually configure the DNS settings on my Helix router, but this seems to NOT be an option. This is to improve my home network security to point at Canadian Shield DNS servers. ( https://www.cira.ca/en/canadian-shield/ )

Will Videotron provide users with this ability, or will in be forced to find an ISP that allows this?

Kindest regards,

TheMacAllyn

    Hello mikeypas!

Using the pods in serial ( Gateway -> Pod -> Pod ) is absolutely possible and supported. It is not ideal however as each Pod in a segment will reduce the Internet speed by about 15-20%. This can still be a good solution if range is more of an issue than speed.

Ideally, the Gateway should be placed in a centered position in your house/apartment so that all your devices are around it and form a network shaped more or less like a star. If necessary, you may contact our Technical Support to schedule a technician to move the Gateway for this purpose.

But if push comes to shove, the Pods can be used in a Mesh configuration and each Pod can be used as an access point to connect another Pod.

    Hello,

As of now, if you would like to have your own DNS servers on Helix, you would need to use a personal router in bridge mode and configure that router to have the DNS servers of your choosing.
