so i found this critical error log in the event tab: 72001004-DHCPv6 Provision - 7 Retries Attempted
it happens each and every time i attempt to port forward. please, can someone help. I can only port forward 1 thing at a time and have to factory reset the router EACH TIME i have to do it.
Hello,
The error code 72001004-DHCPv6 Provision - 7 Retries Attempted in your Helix router logs suggests an issue with IPv6 provisioning when attempting to perform tasks like port forwarding. The router is having trouble obtaining an IPv6 address, which could be blocking proper configuration.
Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
- Check IPv6 Settings:
Go to your router's admin panel and review the IPv6 settings.
If your ISP doesn't support IPv6 or you don't need it, consider disabling IPv6 in your router's settings to prevent it from causing issues with port forwarding.
2. Use IPv4 for Port Forwarding:
Since most port forwarding is typically done using IPv4, try disabling IPv6 temporarily and see if the issue persists.
In your router settings, look for options to switch to IPv4-only mode if it's available.
3. Update Router Firmware:
Ensure your router’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, bugs or issues related to specific errors can be resolved with a firmware update.
Visit the manufacturer's website or use the router's admin panel to check for the latest firmware and install it.
4. Reset the Router Settings:
If you're facing issues after each port-forward attempt, performing a factory reset might help clear any potential configuration issues. However, this can be time-consuming if it needs to be repeated.
After the reset, configure the router step-by-step, ensuring that port forwarding works before adding other configurations.
5. Configure Port Forwarding Carefully:
Instead of trying to port forward multiple services at once, configure them one by one.
If only one port can be forwarded at a time, make sure to test it before adding another rule.
6. Consult ISP Support:
If these issues persist, there might be a problem with how the ISP is assigning IPv6 addresses or configuring their network. Contact your ISP for additional troubleshooting or to see if they can provide a different configuration or help disable IPv6.
7. Router Logs:
Examine additional logs in the router to get more specific information about what's happening during the retries. Look for any related warnings or messages that could provide more context on what’s failing.
Best Regards
