Helix Internet
17 TopicsHelix fi 2 gateway disconnecting periodically
Hi, I've noticed that every now and then my connection gets interrupted, and when I look at my Helix Fi 2 Gateway router I see it flashing either green or orange. It doesn't take too long for the connection to come back but it's extremely frustrating when I'm working on zoom or playing an online game. I've read that this means downstream or upstream synchronization or even firmware update. I'm wondering if there is a setting on the Helix fi 2 gateway to pause these events or a setting to schedule them to happen at specific times ex. between 4-7AM? Any answer would be greatly appreciated, thanks!18KViews1like9CommentsLooking to leave Videotron, can I use my Helix 2 Borne as a router with another company's modem
I can't find any mentions of this anywhere... How am I able to set up my helix 2 borne as a router only? I know about bridge mode but that is if I want to use another router and use the helix 2 as a modem. If I leave Vidéotron will the modem portion of the router stop working as the service is cancelled and the router will keep working? or will the whole thing not work as I am no longer with Vidéotron? Hi community, I've been looking for this info in Videotron pages without success, I wonder if you can help me. I have been thinking about switching to Helix Internet, but we are a big family, how many devices maximum does Helix internet allow connected at the same time? Thanks!Solved7.9KViews0likes3CommentsHelix and Google WiFi Mesh network - it works
Just want to share my experience with Helix and Google Wifi mesh network as when I was subscribing no one seemed to know if it would work or not. The short answer is it works perfectly - but requires some manual adjustments. 1. Set-up your helix wifi modem router using the app 2. Connect your Main Google wifi point to the Helix router ethernet with the red line marking 3. Restart the helix modem and then restart the Google wifi main point 4. Both HELIX and your Google wifi networks will now work at the same time which means you do not need to migrate all of your devices to a new network 5. Bridge Mode to ONLY have your google wifi network (and close the Helix wifi signal and simply use as a cable modem). I tried this and for some reason internet speeds on the google network were substantially slower than if I left it in normal mode. So after experimenting I now leave the HELIX with BRIDGE MODE DISABLED – so you will have a choice of either Helix or Google Network for Wifi. 6. YOU CAN connect your TV Helix devices to the Google Network. I have one TV connected to the Google wifi network and one to Helix wifi - and both work perfectly. Hope this helps others.5.7KViews2likes5CommentsCan the Helix Fi Gateway be used as a network switch?
Bell is coming to install new service at a family member's place next week and I have a 30m long wire going from the modem's location to the basement. I was using a router (Linksys E1200) as a network switch to get more Ethernet ports, but I will no longer use it as it can only handle a maximum of 100Mbps. The Helix Fi Gateway can do 1Gbps so I would like to use it as my network switch. Has anyone tried to do this successfully?3.3KViews0likes1Commentstill can't access bing.com
Sorry for all the posts, but the replies I posted on the previous thread seem to be disappearing??? here's my 'tracert www.bing.com' when my browser can't browse the site: Tracing route to e86303.dscx.akamaiedge.net [23.53.4.26] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 2 ms <1 ms 1 ms 10.0.0.1 2 14 ms 13 ms 14 ms modemcable001.219-80-70.mc.videotron.ca [70.80.219.1] 3 23 ms 14 ms 14 ms 10.170.160.106 4 * * * Request timed out. 5 * * * Request timed out. 6 * * * Request timed out. 7 * * * Request timed out. 8 * * * Request timed out. 9 * * * Request timed out. 10 * * * Request timed out. 11 * * * Request timed out. 12 * * * Request timed out. 13 * * * Request timed out. 14 * * * Request timed out. 15 * * * Request timed out. 16 * * * Request timed out. 17 * * * Request timed out. 18 * * * Request timed out. 19 * * * Request timed out. 20 * * * Request timed out. 21 * * * Request timed out. 22 * * * Request timed out. 23 * * * Request timed out. 24 * * * Request timed out. 25 * * * Request timed out. 26 * * * Request timed out. 27 * * * Request timed out. 28 * * * Request timed out. 29 * * * Request timed out. 30 * * * Request timed out. Trace complete. Last time I got an incomplete trace it stopped at 216.113.125.7 (Videotron Ltee, Beauharnois QC), this time it stopped at 10.170.160.106 (bogon ip)? When access to bing.com doesn't work, it's this bogon ip that is most often the last link in the chain of ips that work. Again, sorry for all these posts, but this for me is a larger problem.Solved2.8KViews0likes7Comments
